Where to Sell Used Books in San Diego

Today, we’ll discuss another location quite popular among students and graduatesβ€”San Diego. We’ll also share a list of the best places where you can sell used books and textbooks to local stores and online.

Just like Seattle, which we recently discussed, San Diego also attracts a large number of students every year. There are plenty of reasons for this, and apart from the obviousβ€”great education opportunitiesβ€”San Diego boasts fantastic weather, the beautiful Pacific Ocean, stunning beaches, and plenty of other stuff that makes it an ultimate destination for college students.

All in all, NCES’s list includes 33 schools and colleges in the city, including prominent examples such as San Diego State University (SDSU). The third-largest in California, it offers exceptional education and “provides more than 37,000 students with the opportunity to participate in an academic curriculum.” It’s also famous for its amazing architecture and fantastic campus grounds. We’ve once mentioned it when we were discussing the 10 most beautiful college campuses.

With so many colleges and students, the city has to offer plenty of places for the latter to concentrate on campus grounds and outside. And it does, as you can learn from our post about the top 11 best study spots in San Diego.

It’s also important for San Diego to have many bookstores that cater to all students and their needs and spots that sell and buy back all kinds of literature. Although finding a bookstore with a selection of great reads isn’t usually a problem, finding a place to sell used books can be hard. In this post, we’ll focus on places that offer a buyback program and discuss brick-and-mortar stores and online services in San Diego.

How to Sell Books in San Diego?

Just like in any other place, San Diego offers two options: you can sell used books and textbooks to a physical bookstore (by visiting it in person) or do it online. The choice usually depends on your preferences and the books (genre, condition, etc.).

Where to Donate Books in San Diego?

As you can see, not many bookstores in San Diego accept books (mostly for store credit), and even fewer accept textbooks. However, there are those that accept donations. You can check this option as well. Here are a few places that are not Goodwill, Salvation Army, Better World Books, etc. (though they are great organizations to donate to), but you may want to check out some local brick-and-mortar bookstores and libraries in the San Diego area. You can also browse our posts about textbook donations and places to donate used books.

Grace’s Book Nook

πŸ“Œ10301 Scripps Lake Drive, San Diego, CA 92131

Grace’s Book Nook is a part of The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL) that exists to support the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center. It welcomes “donations of new and used hardcover and softcover books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks. In addition, the Book Nook is happy to accept donations of (unused) greeting cards, intact jigsaw puzzles, educational games, etc.”

LibΓ©lula Books and Co

πŸ“Œ 950 S 26th St, San Diego, CA 92113

LibΓ©lula Books and Co. claims that it ” hopes to become a learning and sharing space where folx of all walks of life can exist and grow together.”Β  Its website has a donation page, so you can check it out as well.

Friends of Santee Library

πŸ“Œ 9225 Carlton Hills Blvd #8, Santee, CA 9207

Friends of Santee Library accepts donations in the form of books of all kinds except for encyclopedias, magazines, and textbooks over five years old.

Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Library

πŸ“Œ 215 W Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103

Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox library accepts small book donations: books in good condition, books published in the last few years, fiction and nonfiction, foreign language books, children’s books, young adult books, and textbooks. They do not accept books with missing covers or pages, musty, odorous, moldy, or heavily annotated titles, or magazines older than two issues.

How to Sell Books Online in San Diego?

For those who prefer to do things online, we suggest online marketplaces, such as Amazon, eBay, and Better World Books, as well as online booksellers like SellBackYourBook, eCampus, etc. You can find our advice on how to sell textbooks on Amazon and eBayβ€”our short step-by-step guide in our blog.

Alternatively, if none of the above works for you, you can check BookScouter. Here’s why it might be the best solution regardless of your current location. BookScouter can show you the offers from more than thirty vendorsβ€”buyback services and bookstores willing to buy your book wherever you are in the US: San Diego, Seattle, Boston, etc. You can compare offers in seconds and choose the best one to sell your books. Here’s how it works.

Now, imagine that you’re an aerospace engineering major student deeply intrigued by aviation disasters. You’re not just studying aircraftβ€”you’ve watched every Air Crash Investigations documentary from National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Smithsonian, and more, covering the most tragic plane crashes in aviation history. You probably even visit the NTSB’s official website to read reports and get technical information from real accidents (and, of course, check The Aviation Herald daily).

You likely have many books on this topic, including both textbooks and nonfiction. While aviation engineeringβ€”and aviation disastersβ€”are quite specialized subjects, BookScouter can still give you a good estimate of how much your copy of Understanding Air France 447 is currently worth in the buyback market. Not much we have to admit, only $1.26, but many brick-and-mortar booksellers may not even accept such a niche title.

air-france

However, you can get way more for one of your textbooks. For example, the buyback offers for Aircraft Structures for Engineering Students (Aerospace Engineering) and Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach are almost half of their purchase price (which is higher than most campus offers usually offer):

sell-buy-aircraft

Also, if you want to check offers for several engineering and aviation disaster-related books at once, you can use the multiple search feature. Just enter the ISBNs in the pop-up window.

multiple

You click Add ISBNs and get the price data from all currently buying vendors, with the best offers highlighted for your convenience.

buyback-multiple

If you decide to sell your copy of Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach to BlueRocketBooks (which has the highest quote so far), you simply click on the price and are transferred to the vendor page, where you can complete the buyback order and receive the follow-up instructions.

You can also use the free BookScouter mobile app to do the same. It’s even more convenient since you can scan book barcodes without entering ISBNs. The app is widely used by students and book scouts who want to sell books online quickly and easily.

Conclusion

As you can see, San Diego offers several options for frugal students and book lovers: there are several brick-and-mortar bookstores where you can sell books, from Verbatim Books or La Playa Books, where you can get store credit to college bookstores like UC San Diego, where you can bring your gently used textbooks. You can also get help from BookScouter to quickly scan all the available buyback vendor offers and sell your books online. The choice is yours, but we recommend considering the latter if you want to earn more.

If you’re not in San Diego or planning to move elsewhere, you might find our reviews of locations and bookstores that accept used books for store credit or cash helpful. Whether you’re in Atlanta, Chicago, Florida, Ashburn, Dallas, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, San Antonio, or New York City, we have detailed guides to help you find the best places to sell your used books.

We’ve already mentioned Half Price Books a few times in our previous posts. It’s one of the largest bookstore chains, with over 120 stores all over the US. They buy and sell all sorts of books, CDs, DVDs, etc. To learn about their buyback policy, visit the Stuff We Buy page on their website. They mostly sell books online, not buy. To sell your own books to HPB, you should bring them to the store in person; they pay in cash. The closest store to Seattle is HPB Bellevue. A while ago, when we were writing our comprehensive Half Price Books Overview: Top 16 Questions about Half Price Book Stores, there was information about HPB buying textbooks across a wide range of subjects. However, this information is no longer available on their website. Therefore, we recommend reaching out to them directly to get the details.

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble

πŸ›’ Northgate, WA
πŸ“ž (206) 417-2967
πŸ“Œ Northgate Mall, 401 NE Northgate Way #1100, Seattle, WA 98125
πŸ—“Β  Mon – Thu 9a.m. – 8 p.m., Fri – Sat 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Barnes & Noble’s textbook buyback program isn’t the most convenient option compared to the ones we’ll be sharing later in this post, but you are welcome to check their Sell Your Textbooks page to understand their current demand and offers. Enter the ISBN to get a quote from the store, but be prepared that you can receive none if B&N isn’t interested in your title at the moment. Barnes & Noble only accepts books in good condition. You can also check our post, which describes the company and its buyback process in detail: How to Sell Textbooks with Barnes & Noble.

Popular Online Marketplaces

BookScouter

bookscouter

Alternatively, you can go to the price comparison platform and check the offers and demand for your books. While all the booksellers mentioned above can offer a good price, you will have to check each website specifically. BookScouter, on the other hand, gives you a clear picture of all the currently available offers because it works with more than 30 vendors and strives to provide the most recent price information possible. With the help of this platform, you can sell used books in Seattle or basically anywhere in the US.

You simply enter the ISBN of your book, click Scout, and get the offers displayed in one browser window. Then, you choose the best one and proceed to the vendor’s website to make a buyback order. Say you’re a fan of air crash investigations and have plenty of books about plane crashes and aviation disasters. This time, you decided to sell some stuff from your collection to get cash for new reads: Plane Crash: The Forensics of Aviation Disasters. Here are your offers from different vendors, all displayed on BookScouter.

BookScouter sell books

Well, this might not be a very popular book, but you’ve got the idea. At the very least, you can see that TextbookRush offers the best quote, while BooksRun offers a buyback coupon code. There are also offers from other vendors. It would take a lot of time to check each of them separately, even if you’re familiar with all these services, and you still wouldn’t see the whole picture.

Let’s take another example. If you’re finished with your copy of Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity, plenty of vendors have a nice offer for it. Besides, you can see all of them in one place.

BookScouter buyback

So, yes, we do recommend BookScouter to understand the prices on the buyback market.

If you need more information about bookstores with buyback programs in other locations, check out our other posts about selling used books in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, San Antonio, Philadelphia and Florida. Alternatively, explore more websites to sell used books online for convenient options available no matter where you are.

Where to Sell Books in Seattle FAQs

Where can I donate books in Seattle?

If you’re not looking for profit, you can check a few places in Seattle that accept book donations. You can start with the local Goodwill and Salvation Army branches, but there are other options, such as the Seattle Public Library and Friends of the Seattle Public Library (an organization that resells books to benefit the library) that we’ve already mentioned. Kids’ literature will be welcome at Treehouse for Kids and Kidvantage, and local shelters, such as Mary’s Place, will also be happy to take in your donations. If you want to share books directly with your neighbors, check out Little Free Libraries around the city. Here is more information on where to donate textbooks, 14 great places to donate used books, and how to donate books to charity.

Where can I recycle books in Seattle?

Local transfer stations, like the North or South Seattle Transfer Stations, accept paper products, including books. You can also visit King County recycling and transfer stations in other Washington cities. The city’s recycling program (run by Seattle Public Utilities) allows you to place paperback books directly into your curbside recycling bin (the cost is included in the garbage service rate). How to Recycle Books: A Complete Guide can give you more details about recycling.

Where to sell textbooks in Seattle?

You can choose one of the locations from the list we offered you earlier in the post, such as the Seattle University Campus Store or the University of Washington Bookstore, as well as other college stores in Washington State. We also recommend checking the online services we mentioned and checking your ISBNs via BookScouter to find the best offer. Most brick-and-mortar bookstores either buy textbooks seasonally or pay too little, so we recommend online vendors for textbook buyback.

Where to Sell Books Online in Atlanta?

As you can see, only a few places in Atlanta offer cash for used books; most brick-and-mortar stores prefer to pay with store credit. So, if your goal is to earn some money from selling used books, you may consider using other options than going around bookshops with your pack of books. Therefore, we suggest you try BokScouter.

BookScouter

where to sell used books in Atlanta

BookScouter helps you find the best options for selling your used books in Atlanta or anywhere in the US. It’s an online platform that compares buyback prices from over 30 different vendors, allowing you to find the best buyback offers for your books.

You can simply enter your book’s ISBN, title, or author, and the platform will show you all the available offers to choose from.

Once you have picked the most appealing offer, you can proceed to the vendor’s website to complete the transaction.

Selling books for money through BookScouter saves you time and effort, and you get cash instead of store credit, which is way more convenient unless your goal is to literally exchange old books for newer books.

Where to Sell Used Books in Atlanta: Final Thoughts

Atlanta has plenty of bookstores where you can buy new and used books and a number of places where you can sell your used books.

However, like other places we’ve already reviewed (e.g., where to sell used books in Chicago, places to sell used books in San Diego, or selling used books in Los Angeles), most of these places accept used books in exchange for store credit or cash (though the latter is rare, and the owners seem to prefer to use the first option).

Also, very few of them accept textbooks, and many specifically say that they don’t.

In this respect, we would suggest looking for alternative ways of selling books, as we’ve already recommended earlier. Brick-and-mortar bookstores have neither storage space nor the financial capacity to take many books, so they are naturally picky and prefer to offer store credit.

Luckily, you can go to such websites as BookScouter.com to find the best book buyback vendor with the best offer for your books and make the process of selling your books quicker and more profitable.

where to sell used books in Dallas

Dallas is home to many bookstores, yet only a few of them offer buyback services.

If you’re in Triple D and asking where to sell used books in Dallas, this guide is for you. We’ve reviewed a variety of local bookstores, focusing on those who are eager to expand their collection by buying used books from the public.

Here is some information on the best places to sell used books in Dallas.

Where to Sell Used Books in Dallas?

In Dallas, few places buy used books back. However, we recommend doing some research on them, as they may vary in terms of books they’re interested in. Also, regardless of which bookstore you choose, contacting them in advance is always a good idea to see if they’re currency buying and how the process is carried out.

1. Lucky Dog Books

911 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208 633 W Davis St, Dallas, TX 75208

Lucky Dog Books specializes in used books. Here’s how they describe themselves, β€œNeighborhood Bookstores Featuring Good Recycled Books, Movies, Music & More.” They operate two used bookstores in Dallas, one in the East Dallas area and the other in N. Oak Cliff, and sell books of all genres, as well as DVDs, CDs, LPs, comic books, and more. They offer cash or store credit for books in good condition. Though there’s some information on buyback on their website at the time of writing this article, you can also check the reviews on Yelp that mention their buying back used books for store credit. One of them is, β€œI like that you can sale your books and then get half off your purchase with your store credit of resales.” Nonetheless, we recommend contacting them in advance before coming. Other than that, these bookstores are absolutely fantastic places for book lovers.

2. Half Price Books

5803 E Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75231

Half Price Books has multiple locations throughout the city. They’ll eagerly accept your books: β€œJust bring your pre-loved items to the Buy Counter of your local HPB store*, take a look around while we evaluate them, accept our offer and buy yourself a little something new (or used).” They buy a wide range of books and generally offer cash. They only accept books in person (so no shipping; you have to come to their brick-and-mortar store). Apart from books, this chain buys and sells used books, music, movies, and games. Before they approve your books, they will evaluate them. Make sure you bring your government-issued photo ID with you.

3. Dallas College Store

12800 Abrams Rd, Dallas, TX US 75243-2104

If you’re a student or resident in the Dallas area, you can try selling your textbooks at the Dallas College Store. They answer the question of where to sell used books in Dallas positively; sell books and stuff for students but also offer a buyback service for used books. Check their current needs or specific buyback periods before heading overβ€”college bookstores tend to have peak buyback times, especially around the end of semesters. Just bring your books in and make sure they meet their requirements; for instance, “Pages should not be torn, missing, marked up or highlighted excessively so that the print is obscured.” Read more about selling your textbooks to the Dallas College Store on their official website.Β

4. Recycled Books, Records, CDs

200 N. Locust St., Denton, TX 76201

β€œDenton’s Book and Record Store Since 1983,” this bookstore isn’t located exactly in Dallas, but you may want to check it out. After all, it’s in Dentonβ€”not that far away, really, β€œlocated on Denton’s lively and historic downtown square, just 40 miles or so north of Dallas and Fort Worth.” They are interested in high-quality items in great condition: β€œWe buy gently used books and scratch-free records, CDs, Blu-Rays, and DVDs. We also buy vintage video games and consoles in good working order.” They’re also interested in rare books, movies, and musicβ€”first editions/pressings, signed copies, limited editions, and other hard-to-find items, board games, vintage toys and figures, horror and otherwise strange VHS tapes, and anime/fandom memorabilia. They do not buy β€œtextbooks, encyclopedias, book club editions, ex-library discards, Time Life books, Harlequin Romances, Reader’s Digest editions, or magazines.” As you can see, the store is very picky about what they accept (and they say so themselves). So, if you have anything from the β€œaccepted” list, call them at (940) 566-5688 to arrange a visit or go straight to the store. Don’t forget to bring your valid ID when you come.

Selling Books to a Brick-and-Mortar Store in Dallas or Online?

While brick-and-mortar bookstores are fun to visit, those that accept used books may not offer the best prices. Besides, they may have limited preferences. Moreover, you may not always have time for an in-person visit. That’s why exploring various websites to sell used books online can be a faster and more convenient method to sell your books. Here’s one of them:

BookScouter

Whether you’re in Dallas or anywhere in the US, you can use BookScouter to sell your used books.

BookScouter is an online price comparison platform, and it eliminates the need to look for local bookstores and check whether they have buyback programs. With its help, you can quickly compare prices from over 30 vendors. Just enter your book’s ISBN and get instant access to the best buyback offers, including price and shipping details. Choose the offer that suits you best, go to the vendor’s website, ship your book, and get your paymentβ€”no need to visit a bookstore.

BookScouter is an invaluable tool for book lovers and seasoned sellers alike. You can sell your books effortlessly and at the best prices.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, unlike other places we’ve already reviewed (e.g., where to sell used books in Chicago, places to sell used books in San Diego, or selling used books in Los Angeles), only a few brick-and-mortar bookstores in Dallas accept used books in exchange for cash or store credit. We’ve only managed to find four bookstores that explicitly say so on their websites. Yet, none offer direct cash, and only one accepts textbooks (being a college bookstore, after all). And apart from being so few, these stores might not always provide the best value for your books.

However, on the question of where to sell used books in Dallas, you always have an alternative and can sell your books onlineΒ with BookScouter. We hope that we’ve provided you with enough information and a decent tool to find the best online vendor and sell your books well should you feel like you are not in the mood to visit a brick-and-mortar bookstore in person.

Where to Sell Used Books in Los Angeles? https://bsblog.wpenginepowered.com/where-to-sell-used-books-in-los-angeles/ Tue, 11 Apr 2023 12:42:12 +0000 https://bsblog.wpenginepowered.com/?p=5532 sell used books in Los Angeles

Los Angeles has many bookstores; however, not all of them buy books back. If you live in Los Angeles and want to know where to sell your books, this article is for you. We’ve gone through the list of brick-and-mortar bookstores that not only can boast great collections but are constantly expanding them by accepting used books from customers. So let’s take a closer look at the ten best places in Los Angeles to sell books.

Best Places to Sell Used Books in Los Angeles

Check the places we’ve selected in Los Angeles for you. Depending on your location, you may find some of them more conveniently located than others. Also, keep in mind that not all of them accept used textbooks; therefore, we recommend contacting the bookstores in advance for any questions.

The Last Bookstore

where to sell used books in LA

πŸ“Œ453 S Spring St Ground Floor,Los Angeles, CA 90013

β€œWe’re not really the last bookstoreβ€”thank goodnessβ€”but we are the largest new and used bookstore in California,” the store states on its main webpage. Well, with 22,000 sq. feet of everything, The Last Bookstore has the right to say so. Apart from books, they also sell merchandise products and gifts and provide their space with β€œhigh soaring ceilings” for all sorts of events, from cocktail parties and weddings to corporate events. As one of the largest new and used bookstores in Los Angeles, it normally accepts books for sale and donations; however, at the moment, they only accept donations, as it cannot process buyback orders. Nonetheless, if you live in Los Angeles and have valuable books you want them to look at, you can schedule an appointment.

THE BOOKMAN

sell used books in LA

πŸ“Œ320 E Katella, Orange, California 92867

β€œSouthern California’s favorite Bookstore since 1990,” as they say on the main page, The Bookman sells and buys used, unique, and out-of-print books. Visit them in person in Orange from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday to sell your books. However, it would be even better if you called ahead. Mind that the store’s cash-buy price is less than the store credit they offer; besides, cash is offered on the basis of the store’s monthly buying budget. Bookman prefers to buy hardcover non-fiction; however, they also accept mass-market paperbacks (for store credit only). They do not accept textbooks or Book Club editions.

Angel City Books & Records

sell used books in LA

πŸ“Œ218 Pier Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90405

If you live in Santa Monica, we recommend visiting Angel City Books & Records, β€œSanta Monica’s last indie bookstore.” Not only it’s a great indie bookstore, but it’s also a fantastic record store. So if you’re both a book and music lover, you’ll definitely like the place. Take a look at their Instagram page to see photos of the store. Go for the atmosphere first, but take your old books with you, too. Angel City Books is mostly interested primarily in classics and fiction; however, we recommend you contact them in advance for details. Here is the list of books they buy: β€œclassic literature, poetry and philosophy books (paperback and hardcover) like Hemingway, Steinbeck, Dostoevsky, Camus, Kafka, James Joyce, Ray Bradbury, Raymond Chandler, Agatha Christie and newer top literary authors like Kurt Vonnegut, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski, Joan Didion, Murakami; Nietzsche, Derrida.” They don’t buy textbooks, and may consider buying coffee table books and art, photography, and architecture books but only after prior discussion. You can also sell classic rock and jazz vinyl records at the store if you have any!

UCLA Storeβ€”BookZone

sell books in LA

πŸ“Œ308 Westwood Plz, Los Angeles, CA 90024

If you’re looking for a place to sell your used textbooks and your college bookstores are no good, you can check UCLA Storeβ€”an independent university bookstore in Los Angeles. For one thing, they have a huge collection of used textbooks, so students can really save a lot of cash on getting discounted materials for their studies. For another, they also offer in-store textbook buyback for textbooks, and by doing so, they allow the previous option to exist. The store states that their β€œpreference is to purchase them [books] from you rather than purchase them [books] from a used book company.” Which is exactly what makes it stand out, so to say. You can sell your used textbooks to the UCLA Store at any time during the year; however, you can get the most out of the opportunity by selling your books β€œduring the 10th week of the quarter when the store begins buying books for the next term”. Keep in mind that you’re likely to be offered less for your textbooks later when the store gets the necessary stock and the demand decreases. You can bring almost all of your textbooks; however, the store doesn’t accept course readers, international editions, instructor editions, and educational software.

The Iliad Bookshop

used books in LA

πŸ“Œ5400 Cahuenga Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA 91601

Another interesting place in North Hollywood is The Iliad Bookshop, which is one of the largest used bookstores in the Los Angeles area, with over 150,000 books in stock and over 11,000 books listed in their online store. While they specialize in Literature and the Arts, you can also find books on all sorts of subjects. The Iliad Bookshop used to accept books for sale, but at the moment, they only accept donations. So, we’re listing this bookstore so that you can check it in the future; they may resume their buyback program anytime. However, as we’ve mentioned, they’re mainly interested in fiction, arts, etc., so if you have textbooks to sell, you should go to the store we mentioned earlier, as this bookstore isn’t interested in textbooks. Nonetheless, we recommend visiting the place simply for its atmosphere.

BookMonster Santa Monica

sell books in LA

πŸ“Œ212 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90401

BookMonster Santa Monica has been selling books, music CDs, and DVDs online since 1999 in South Korea. In 2008, they started buy-and-sell online services for used books, CDs, and DVDs, and in the next 10 years, opened 42 retail stores in South Korea. They used to have a store in Santa Monica, which served book lovers in the US; however, it’s marked as β€œPermanently closed” on Google Maps, so they probably work only online at the moment. BookMonster offers online buyback options where you can also sell used CDs and DVDs. Yet, check their buyback policy and condition guidelines before sending any books to them. They don’t buy β€œEx-library (including items withdrawn/discarded/sold from a library or public institution), BCE (book club edition), Advanced Copy, Uncorrected Proofs, POD titles, or items marked “Not for Resale/Not to be Resold”, or items with open/scratched access code (damaged/revealed/not sealed) or items without their original supplements.”

μ•ŒλΌλ”˜ μ€‘κ³ μ„œμ  LA점 Aladdin Used Books

Sell used books in Los Angeles

πŸ“Œ621 S. Western Ave STE 300, Los Angeles, CA 90005

Another South Korean bookstore in LA is Aladin Used Books, located in Room 300 on the 3rd floor of Madang Mall in Weston, Wilshire. Surely, this bookstore will be probably interesting to you either if you’re Korean, have a library of Korean books at home, or know the Korean language (or are learning it). The store’s website is in Korean, but you can use Google Translate. Counterpoint Records and Books

used books in Los Angeles

πŸ“Œ5911 Franklin Ave., Hollywood, CA 90028

Counterpoint Records and Books is one of the oldest bookstores in LA. They’ve been around since 1979, and β€œhave a wide selection of books focusing mainly on the arts, literature, poetry, film, stage, and philosophy with a wide variety of other categories including memorabilia and ephemera.” If you’re a real bookworm, you should pay them a visit. They also sell vinyl records and CDs, so music lovers frequent the place, too. Apart from selling books, the store also accepts used books and vinyl records. However, there’s no set policy for either pricing or the best period to sell. If there’s demand, you can get a great offer. If not, they will most likely refuse. Therefore, we recommend checking the details with them by phone or email before coming. The bookstore also offers its services to those looking to consolidate their own collection or liquidate an estate. Contact them via email at orders@counterpointla.com to set up an appointment, and the store representative will go through your books, records, etc., and make an offer based on the value.

Selling Books to a Brick-and-Mortar Store in LA or Online?

While in this article, we focused mostly on brick-and-mortar bookstores that accept used books for cash or store credit, they may not be offering the best prices for your books. Many prefer store credit to cash; also, some buy back books depending on demand, others stick to one or few subjects, yet others stopped accepting used books for the time being. Besides, the in-person method requires making an appointment with the store and going there with the books. Alternatively, you can explore places to sell used books online for a faster and more convenient solution.
